What is it like to study Communication Science? You can meet with current students in person or through Skype to talk about their personal experiences in studying Communication Science and their student life in Amsterdam.
Hello! I'm Mohita Ghosal, a current student of the Masters in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. I'm of mixed Danish-Indian descent and spontaneously moved to Amsterdam a few years ago. I have now decided there is nowhere better for me to live (Amsterdam has a way of persuading people to stay as I'm sure you will soon see). I have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a professional background in Communication, Events and specifically, Advertising. The University of Amsterdam has provided an immersive and flexible environment for me to pursue my communication interests while also building a strong sense of academic-family!
Joining a university can be exciting and overwhelming in equal parts - especially given the global Covid19 pandemic that has changed so much about how we study (and live). I'm here for you to ask me any and all questions you might have about the Masters in Communication Science. I'm also here if you just want to have a chat about what life is like in Amsterdam (off-campus and on-campus) and to help you work through any issues so you can focus on being excited about attending University! Feel free to get in touch about anything at all, I promise I'm very friendly and if you need one, a pretty great problem solver!
"Hi everyone, my name is Robin, I'm currently doing my Masters in Communication Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. I'm originally from the Netherlands but spent most of my life in Geneva, Switzerland where I was born. I moved to the Netherlands for my bachelor's at University College Maastricht, where I specialized in Culture and Media but ended up not being sure of what master I wanted to pursue after graduation. After two years of doing internships and trying to figure it out, Amsterdam and Communications Sciences was what most aligned with my passions and experience.
Having had many fresh starts and growing up internationally means I have personal experience with the daunting task of starting something like a new university program, even more so in a new city. If you have any questions about the masters, university life, or anything else in between, please feel free to contact me. I will happily help you wherever I can!"
